In fact, this is the secret of the upsurge of support for Ron Paul in the Republican primaries coming up. If all that the US Government is going to give us is war and destruction, no wonder more people agree with Ron Paul and want to shut down large parts of the government.

Russia and China can "blow the United States off the map." We have to be intelligent and patient enough to solve these disputes of power politics in other ways. Man cannot have thermonuclear war and have civilization survive. That was the point of Pres. Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, as an offered joint collaboration with the then USSR. Though they rejected it then, now Russia is offering to work with the United States on a Strategic Defense of the Earth (SDE). This would work on neutralizing the missiles of Iran, Israel, etc, while also stopping rogue asteroids from smashing into the Earth. That is a true peace, and a peace on a higher order.
