Our Clients Don't Seem to Want War
What an embarassment, our clients in Afghanistan and Iraq don't seem to want war, at least against Iran. So, who is fooling who? I'm sure PM Al-Maliki knows full well that his life and government's continued existence depends on U.S. Troops. Yet, he has invited Pres. Ahmedijad of Iran to Baghdad. Al-Maliki just returned from a cordial visit in Syria. These events should be viewed as normal diplomatic exchanges between neighboring countries.
So why is Bush's brain, Cheney trying to kill it? Why is Joe Lieberman (I- Ct) running around having a temper tantrum? In fact, the Bush Administration is stating over and over again that all of our problems in Iraq, or at least half (the other half is from our "friends" in Saudi Arabia) is from the Quds force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. But, there seems something wrong here. It seems the Shiites (including Al-Maliki) are mobilizing to defend themselves from the Sunnis (including the Saudis). So, it seems that two U.S. clients are gearing up to massacre each other. What a Country!

The Iran Iraq war cost over 1 million live and ended in a stalemate.
Iran is not the same as Iraq. They do have the ability to stir a lot more pots than just a simple two sided conflict.
They also have a better capability to defend and attack that Iraq had before the invasion.
Bush and Cheney may be thinking that they will wipe of another enemy or they may be using the British colonial method of stiring trouble in a far land so that they fight each other rather than the US.
