Transitions 2010- NYC Taxi Cab Films
September 7th 2010 00:33
Real Crash- Looking at Capitalism and its Laws:
In this case, the taxi cab films are in NYC taxi cabs. In a striking display of public art, Amir Baradaran broadcasts his short films, Transient 2010, shown on Taxi TV in yellow cabs, from September 9th through 15th. I hope that this doesn't freak you out, but you can't go to a gallery to see this art, you have to take a yellow cab! Part of Baradaran's art is the situational aspect- he wants to intervene on you when you are spaced out and relaxing in a cab- through Taxi TV.
The 40-second films are on Taxi TV, on about 50 percent of cabs. The films are attracting a good deal of media attention, while in a week's time will be seen by 1.5 million viewers. Mr. Baradaran states that his intention is to make the cab driver more visible to the public, and make the taxi cab itself a destination of sorts. .
