The rain in Spain is mainly on the plain, as the real estate market goes south. Taking the lead in that endeavor was the #2 at Spain's Ministry of Economy and Finance, Jose Manuel Campa.

Talk about some juicy corruption. Banco Santander's top agent at the Ministry is Jose. Before taking over as Deputy Minister in May 2009, the Harvard-trained Campa held the Grupo Santander Chair of Financial Institutions and Corporate Governance at the University of Navarre's international business school, IESA, a position paid for by Grupo Santander from which he is merely on extended leave IESA reports.

Now we are in the next phase of the southing of real estate, with the commercial real estate bubble popping in Spain. The rain in Spain is mainly in the insane. This could be the end of the euro. And don't forget the British angle. Banco Santandar is run through the Inter-Alpha group, including the Queen's own Royal Bank of Scotland, now nationalized in the UK.
