Obama- Kitchen Cabinet Man Wants Action
Real Crash- Looking at the Financial System and the War Drive:
This letter is from Prof. Sidney Gluck to Obama. Even the wild left is freakin out. Obama keeps truckin but he is making everyone mad: Dear President Obama, As you know, I have supported your candidacy and battled with many a group to do the same. Your ascendancy to the presidency succeeded because of the massive efforts on Main Street. The course of contention in the elections heard many commitments to alleviate wealth disproportions and hardships for the working people.
Obviously, Congress is closely split between the Right Wing and your commendable commitments. Corporations and the financial world have engaged over 500 lobbyists (about one for each member of Congress) to create a Rightist movement that is both more racist than ever and opposed to economic changes that would benefit the country as a whole.
In this context, we realize the difficulties you are having and appreciate your ability to understand the various elements in the conflict. However, in dealing with these elements and attempting to create compromises, your methodology is based upon getting the opposition to cross the aisle and accept changes which do not correspond to their economic controls an obvious impossibility. This has resulted in crossing the aisle but not in the direction you had hoped and which we, your electorate, supported!
I pray that you will reconsider your methodology. I know you will understand and find the words to make clear the socio-economic battle we are having in terms of the class content of government actions.
Among the things that seem to have gone awry is the expansion of military actions since you took office. We are creating another Vietnam in Afghanistan while making lots of money for those involved in military operations at the expense of our children and childrens children in deficits which they will have to repay. Furthermore, your relations with the Middle East are being dominated by Israels selfish misguidance affecting information about Iran and Palestine. We should not judge Iran as we did Iraq and end up in another war based on the same misinformation. My hope is that you can overcome those who have diverted the excellent position you had enunciated to bring peace to the Middle East.
Your failure to personally express a policy towards the coup in Honduras based on truly democratic sentiments is another example of a drift in our foreign policy which reflects the influence of others in the administration including our Secretary of State. Lets have democratic diplomacy instead of dilatory waffling which in effect, supports the coup.
I implore you to rethink the effectiveness of your method of dealing with those intent on derailing you and remount the pedestal which Main Street has built for you in the light of a very difficult nomination and election campaign.
As a proud member of your Kitchen Cabinet, I speak to you from my heart and the conscience of those who love our country.
Sincerely,
Sidney J. Gluck
