Real Crash - by Howard

We can avoid nuclear war by putting the financial system into bankruptcy reorganization.Need Glass-Steagall Act, water projects, space program. Need a change to production, the real American System.

HTGR Nukes and the potential Iran War

What is the real target of Pres. "Legion" Bush and the potential Iran war? Is it really the "tourists" or something else? Maybe they want to kill nuclear power in the Third World? Why has nuclear power been stagnating in the United States? This is in response to SL and the "Political Briefing."

t's politics, pure and simple. There is third-generation nuclear power, the ABWR (advanced boiling water reactor) being built by one of the big companies (GE, Toshiba, etc) in Finland. We could have some of them in the USA.

Then there is fourth-generation nuclear power, the HTGR (High Temperature Gas Reactor) which is being built as a prototype in China and even more advanced in South Africa. HTGRs are totally safe because for one reason, the nuclear elements are encased in ceramic rods or balls.

They are also designed with emergency passive-cooling.

They function at high temperatures (1000 C) which means they are much more efficient in converting heat to electricity (by the Carnot cycle, higher temps mean higher effiencies). Also , the high temp process heat is hot enough to be used to catalytically break down water (H2O) into H2 and Oxygen. So, you can use hydrogen fuels and have clean car and transportation systems.

The oligarchically controlled, feudalistic, cultish greenies and financial accountants killed it in the United States and Germany. The late Professor Schulte actually "gave" it to China and South Africa, so it would still see the light of day. It seems someone doesn't want Iran (whether they are crazy or not) or any Third World country to have nuclear power.

That's the Political Brief, Howard. But thanks for the plug, anyway.

I have no problem with nuclear energy. The movie "The China Syndrome" scared the daylights out of plenty of people, even though it was totally fiction. Three Mile Island was a pretty good scare, as well, although not the devastating disaster that some expected. Chernobyl wasn't exactly a walk in the park, either, by the way. My point is that nuclear energy can be a great asset if handled properly. And terrible if mishandled. Used for peaceful purposes it can be a wonderful thing. But do you honestly want nuclear technology in the hands of rogue states? Think about it, Howard. Ahmadinejad has vowed to wipe Israel off the map. It would be easier for him to do it with a couple of nuclear warheads than IED's, wouldn't it? And Kim Jong Ill isn't exactly a nice guy, either. Look what he's done to his own people. Do you really want a nut case like him in control of such a potential weapon? Especially with our own troops so near his borders? How about Castro? Would you be willing for him to have nukes aimed at us from so near? Dictators are always looking for an advantage over free countries. Hugo Chavez would love to get the technology for "peaceful" purposes of his own.

This isn't a matter of keeping "Third World" countries in poverty. This is a matter of survival by keeping nuclear technology out of the hands of those who would use it to destroy.

That's why we need US/ Russia cooperation for laser and other advanced systems for missile defense. More of Reagan's SDI, that is. I guess it's called keeping up with the Joneses.

"Star Wars" was a good idea back then and an even better one today. That being said, it seems Mr. Putin has been getting a little cranky lately. I'm not sure that such a sharing of technology with him is the best idea. He's made some remarks that are very reminiscent of the bad old days of the Cold War. Perhaps the defense system in question would be more valuable if created, managed and maintained by the countries we can trust to use it wisely? The UK, Canada, Australia and the USA could create and control such a defense system for our own protection without having to worry about the technology being sold to someone like Chavez, Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong Ill. As you know, Russia has become the "store" for rogue states to purchase everything from weapons to armaments. Do we really want to give them more items for their "sales?"
