Michael Moore, Capitalism, and Detroit
Real Crash- Looking at the Financial System and the War Drive:
It's a well known situation that Detroit Michigan has deteriorated in a remarkable fashion. I hear that a lot of the shots of vacant Detroit and Flint Michigan have made it into the Michael Moore movies, like "Capitalism." In early October, the city of Detroit received $15 million of Obama Stimulus cash, to help destitute homeowners pay their bills. Newly abandoned properties reach the number of 9,000 "tax-delinquent" properties, enough to fill New York's Central Park.
Last week, the city held an auction to try and recoup whatever possible from the sale of these seized properties. Of the 1,800 which were sold (this was actually the second attempt), most went to carpetbagger developers from New York and California, leaving the few local residents who could pay (many who were turned away simply because they missed a registration deadline), out in the cold.
Having already been faced with this collapse, the (Michael Moore famed) city of Flint started a land bank in 2007, which allowed property owners to sell their land to a local church, for a mere dollar. The city now pays the churches to maintain the houses, or turns the empty land into parks.
New Dark Age, anyone? After 30 years of screaming-- no public planning, everything private finance, we love the British Financial Empire, we have the result-- dead cities. Time to return to the real American System.

But take heart, my friend, Joe Biden has used "porkulus" money to reopen a GM plant. Of course, it's in Delaware, not Detroit... minor detail.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
S.L. seems to forget it was "Reaganomics" that was the original cancer that has led to the continual destruction of jobs on US soil. And what of the Bush presidencies? What did they do to help the middle class and the battling workers? ZIP! I also note Clinton did bugger all to fix these problems.
I have seen the Moore doco and reviewed it. The problems grew with the disappearance of corporate and government social conscience; Capitalism used to basically provide for everyone, in health and education, now the tax money that used to go to those worthy investments, in the future of the populace and therefore the country, go straight into the pockets of billionaire owners and multi-millionaire investors. Remember "trickle down economics"? What Reagan failed to tell everyone, (or his advisers failed to tell him is more likely), the trickle went as far as the big end of town, and stopped!
The top 1% of the money earners' tree have never had it so good. They only pay 1% tax, how much do the rest of us pay?
Why anyone, who isn't a member of a billionaire's family, would support such a despicable corruption of the once good moral ground America was built on, is beyond my comprehension.

Secondly, "trickle down economics" does work. If you doubt it, go to a guy on welfare the next time you need a job and see what he's willing to pay.
