The upcoming De La Hoya-Mayweather fight rematch is beginning to raise temperatures all over the blogosphere and real life. And it may be a good relief of tension from the ongoing drama of the crash or hyperinflation and then crash of the monetary system.
Floyd Mayweather won the previous fight, by decision, on May 5th, 2007, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight was on HBO, and raised something over $150 million for the promoters. As part of the promotion package, there was even the four-part HBO series, De La Hoya-Mayweather 24/7, about their training and preparation. The big complaint was that the fight was not particularly bloody, and didn't really have a lot of action. However, there is hope that the upcoming fight will make amends for these deficiencies.
Their next tentative fight will be on September 13 or 30th, 2008. Neither boxer has much of an alternative, short of retirement, it is said at blog.mlive.com. With the long amount of time between fights, more than 9 months, both fighters are suffering from lack of activity. De La Hoya especially needs some action, after losing 3 or the last 5 fights that he has been in. And now, it is so unbelievable, you can get your De La Hoya/Mayweather tickets now. So, the action and the big money is in the air, even if in fact the date and location have not been finalized. That seems to be what is going on in the life in the fast lane. Don't you feel diverted from the Edgar Allen Poe like tales of the "loan assassin at the French bank Societe General?
