It is moving its production to the Phillipines, eliminating about 380 jobs (AP wire Nov. 2nd). The housing bubble's popping will create unbelievable pressures on the US economy. EIR magazine is studying a report by Merill Lynch, which documents that housing and its effects accounted for 24% of GDP growth in 2001. Housing construction and inflated prices accounted for almost 50% of growth in 2005. An estimated 1 to 2 million jobs from housing construction to logging, mining and other raw materials industries, and manufacturing industries will rapidly disappear. This is on top of the losses of auto, steel and other manufacturing jobs.
