A bit belatedly, it came to my attention, that at the end of July 2007, there were massive floods in England. Then I saw that some of the idiots were actually blaming the floods on global warming. How absurd. So these idiots, who have destroyed the infrastructure of England with Thatcherism, privatization, and other insanity, just want to find another way out for their incompetence.
Public building of infrastructure, far from being some "Marxist throwback", is the heart of the nation-state system. When France became the first real nation-state in the 1450s, it was around the policies of King Louis XI, who sponsored fairs and the spread of new technologies, and also undertook a road-making and canal -building transportation improvement program. Louis XI also took extraordinary measures to stop the endless war of France and her neighbors of the period. This included even buying off some of his key rivals. (Perhaps we could keep that in mind in our dealings with Iraq and its neighbors today).

With the international financial system about to disintegrate, these lessons should be taken to heart immediately, and applied. If you don't like the climate, change it with massive water projects, agricultural and forestration projects, etc.
