Join us for the New York premiere of Dirty, plus a panel featuring members of the Wu Tang Clan (36 Chambers), director Raison Allah and Terrie Williams, author of Black Pain: It Just Looks Like We Aren't Hurting.
FILM SYNOPSIS: DIRTY is a personal tribute to one of the most enigmatic, controversial and tragic figures in Hip-Hop music history, Russell Jones' old Dirty Bastard or ODB. As famous for his years with legendary Hip-Hop group the Wu-Tang Clan and his crazed, slurred, half-sung, half-rapped delivery of wild lyrics that encapsulated and personified the raw, unadulterated and innovative style of the group as he was for the years following a successful solo career that was fraught with legal troubles and an eventual tragic death. Featuring members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the Brooklyn Zu and many others, this film celebrates the life of a genius madman who lived life without any breaks.
PANEL DISCUSSION: The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the genius of ODB's work, touching on the Black community's handling of mental health and substance abuse issues.
