Banks could not exist at present without the mortgage backed security (MBS) and other such financial derivatives games. These derivatives would be killed by Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 revival.
We need production. Or else, why should banks make a profit if there is no production to speak of? Franklin Roosevelt had the right idea, of promoting manufacturers. That is the US Constitution, really for all 3 branches.
Bank of US of 1791 was with bank directors who were leading manufacturers in the United States. Patriotic companies, what an idea, though we haven't seen it for a while with the multi-nationals, Cargill, Monsanto, etc dominating. Time to go with larouchepac and get to reality. The bank directors decide who to lend to, though the US Congress oversees and helps to create contracts. We have to return to this today, as the alternative to the horrors of the so-called Fiscal Cliff.
